About Battle Builder 3D

Battle Builder 3D is a level editor and first-person shooter in one. Lay out a map on a 2-metre grid with brick, concrete, plaster, wood, stone, marble and metal walls, windows, doors, glass facades, floors, stairs and roofs — up to eight storeys high — or drop in a ready-made house, villa, hut, shed or watch tower and edit every piece. Furnish the rooms with sofas, TVs, beds, wardrobes, kitchens and bathrooms, add trees, hedges, rocks and ponds, and set up cover with crates, sandbags, cars and containers. Then place enemies wherever you like and give each one a weapon (knife, pistol, SMG, rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, machine gun or RPG), a behaviour and a health value. Press Test to fight through your map: enemies see and hear you, warn each other and take cover. Save your maps, publish them to the community and share them with a link.

How to play Battle Builder 3D

You build in first person, just like in Builder 3D: walk around your map (or press G to fly), aim with the crosshair and a see-through preview shows where the piece will go — green fits, red does not. Left click places it, right click removes what you aim at. Walls snap to the grid line nearest to where you aim, floors to the cells, and aiming at the top of a wall builds the next storey. The bar at the bottom holds nine slots; open the catalogue (Tab) to put any wall, building, piece of furniture, tree, cover, enemy or the player start into the current slot, with its material, colour or weapon. Aim at a placed enemy and press E to change its weapon, behaviour, health and name. Press P (or Test in the menu) to play: defeat every enemy to complete the map. Save to keep it; turn on Public in the map settings to list it in Community maps.

Tips & tricks

• Start with the Sample map to see what is possible.
• A sniper on an upper floor and a shotgunner behind a door make a tough house.
• Use 'Rush' enemies with knives or shotguns to flush the player out of cover.
• Set the map to night and add street lights and lamps for a tense mood.
• Press R before placing to turn walls, stairs and furniture.
